Intercollegiate Literature Quiz and Student Paper Presentation
Government First Grade College, Dharwad, Department of English, V.K.Gokak English Forum, IQAC and Cultural Forum jointly adderall organised an Intercollegiate Literature Quiz and Student paper presentation competition on 24-02-2018 on the occasion, a special talk was also organised.
The programme began with the inauguration by Prof. B.Y. Nayak of Bangalore University followed by a special talk. At the same time a collection of poems (Malehani mattu Itara Kaviteglu) written by Mohanakumar Juttal was released by Prof. B.Y. Nayak. During his speech, Prof. Nayak told the students to consider English learning as a pleasurable activity. English continues to be language of global communicate. Hence, it is necessary to learn the language English literature has extended the horison of our knowledge. There is a need for translation of regional literature into English.
Principal Prof. Azaz Ahamed presided the function. He advised the students to make use of resource in the college. He congratulated the Department of English for having organised such a competition. Dr. A R Jagatap, the IQAC coordinator welcomed the gathering, Dr G K Badiger made introductory speech and Dr B S Tallur proposed vote of thanks. Prof. S.N. Kumbar, Prof. Nishat Sheriff and Prof Vijayashree Patil were present. Miss Kavita Harihar anchored the programme.
Dr. B Y Nayak, Prof. S.N. Kumbar and Prof. Nishat Sheriff acted as members of Jury committee for Paper Presentation competition. 48 students of 12 colleges across the state participated in the event. Literature Quiz was cunducted in two modes – written and oral. Winners were declared in the second round.
Karnataka Arts College Dhaewad and Govt. First Grade College Dharwad shared the first prize. J.S.S College Dharwad bagged the second prize while the third prize was won by Kittel Arts College Dharwad.
The Paper Presentation competition witnessed 28 participants. Miss. Shivani Pathak of J.S.S College Dharwad won first prize. The second prize was won by Miss. Dyamakka Badiger of Govt. First Grade College Dharwad. The third prize was bagged by Miss. Madhura of R.P.D College Belagavi.
The programme was attended by Dr S V Managundi, Prof. B H More, Dr. S B Jogur, Dr. Pragna Mattihalli, Dr. Uma Pujar, Prof. Jyothi Kadadeveramath, Prof Patil, Prof. Prabhayyanavarmath, Dr Muragod, Prof Nadaf, Dr. Manjunath Lamani , Prof. Dayanand Lalasangi, Sri Dileep Jadhav, and other teachers and students.
